We have been spot welding specialists for 30 years and have vast experience on both industrial and car body spot welding equipment offering servicing training and support all over the UK
Spot welders are core equipment for any modern bodyshop working on steel or mixed-material vehicle structures. Day to day, they’re used for panel replacement on sills, quarters, door skins and inner structures where you need OEM-style plug-free joints and controlled heat input.
In real use, the key is matching clamp force and weld current to the material stack: thickness, coatings and access all matter. On high-strength steels you cannot just “turn it up” and hope; you need consistent squeeze, clean contact surfaces and correct timing to avoid nugget failure or distortion. Electrode condition is another big one – dirty or mushroomed caps give erratic welds and hide problems until peel-tested.
A common issue we see on service calls is bad electrodes and incorrect welding parameters with too much welding time setup. After giving practical advice on general maintenance and control setup most jobs are completed quickly as spot welders are generally relaible.
