The generator capacitor could be the main problem for your generator if your voltage drops off but the engine is running normally.
Be aware capacitors can also give you false readings when tested but not perform or fail when under load. The generator capacitor is there to help the generator excite and produce a voltage it can also protect the alternator in the case of surges.
