Mark Allen says
FIAC air compressors are supplied as belt-driven piston machines (commonly 2–10hp) and as rotary screw units for higher duty applications. Each machine is individually tested and conforms to current EC regulations. I specify and install these in workshops and bodyshops to feed pneumatic tools, spray booths, tyre service and general reticulation systems where steady, dry air is required. A correct installation needs attention to siting, ventilation, receiver sizing and condensate drainage, and compatibility with existing control panels and pipework. For screw machines I pay particular attention to oil management and cooling; for belt-driven units I check belt alignment and tension during commissioning.
In practice the most common issues are undersized machines for peak demand, air leaks in the pipework and moisture reaching tools when aftercoolers or drains are neglected. When sized correctly and maintained on a schedule these compressors give reliable, economical service; poor installation and neglected maintenance are the usual causes of failure.
