Engineer Advice

Mark Allen

Mark Allen says

I specify FIAC screw air compressors for workshop and bodyshop compressed-air systems. They provide continuous-duty compressed air for spray booths, pneumatic tools, blow-off and air-operated lifting equipment. In a real workshop they sit in a plant room or corner and feed ring mains, dryers and filters, and correct pipework layout and drainage are essential to keep water and oil out of tools and paint lines. Two technical points matter most: electrical and ventilation provision for the motor, and proper air treatment downstream, including adequate aftercooling, separation and a dryer suited to humidity and paintwork requirements. From site work I often find undersized or poorly routed pipework and inadequate condensate discharge causing pressure losses and contamination. Regular checks of oil level, separators and belts reduce oil carryover and downtime. With sensible siting, correct pipe sizing and routine maintenance these compressors are a reliable, efficient backbone for a busy bodyshop. I'm Mark.

FIAC Screw Air Compressors

Fiac rotary screw compressors provide continuous, oil-lubricated compressed air for bodyshop and workshop needs: spray booths, air wrenches, line tools and vehicle diagnostics. They suit high-duty cycles where steady pressure and volume are required. When choosing, match compressor flow and pressure to peak tool demand, allow headroom for simultaneous use, consider duty cycle and service access, and specify appropriate air treatment and receiver capacity for painting work. Install on a level base with clear service clearance.

  • Real-world uses: spray booths, air tools and plant pneumatic controls
  • Selection: size to flow/pressure demand, consider duty cycle and maintenance access
  • Specify dryers/filters and sufficient receiver volume for paintwork
