Engineer Advice
Paul Jones says
In day-to-day use, the key is load and floor condition. Make sure the combined wheel rating comfortably exceeds the real weight of the equipment, including any workpiece you’re likely to have on it. On painted or epoxy floors, a decent rubber compound will give grip without marking, but if the floor is contaminated with overspray or thinners, you’ll still lose traction, so housekeeping matters.
A common issue I see is wheels fitted without checking mounting centres or bolt size, leading to strain on brackets and premature failure. Take the time to match the kit properly and tighten fixings after the first few days of use.
Set up correctly, a good rubber wheel kit makes handling safer and quicker, and reduces damage to floors and equipment over the long term.
