Technical Features

  • Flexible rechargeable LED UV hand lamp designed specifically for fast curing of small and medium repair areas in the bodyshop.
  • Uses highefficiency UVLEDs with a 390–400 nm output, ideal for curing UV primers, fillers, adhesives and clearcoats used in automotive repair.
  • Generates virtually no heat on the panel, allowing safe curing on plastic bumpers, trim and other heatsensitive substrates without risk of distortion.
  • Compact, slim body with ergonomic grip so it is easy to handle for detail work or carry in a work belt around the workshop.
  • Tiltable lamp head (approx. 180°) to direct the UV beam accurately onto the repair area without awkward hand positions.
  • Builtin strong magnet allows handsfree positioning on steel panels, benches and jigs when you need both hands free for work.
  • Turnable sturdy hook for hanging the lamp from racks, stands or vehicle structures for flexible placement around the job.
  • Supplied with solventresistant, exchangeable glass lens so the front can withstand overspray and cleaning with typical bodyshop solvents, and be replaced if damaged.
  • Rechargeable Liion battery with approx. 2600 mAh capacity providing around 1.5 hours of operation at full output, suitable for multiple spot repairs per charge.
  • Intelligent battery indicator on the lamp so the operator can see remaining charge and avoid running flat midcure.
  • Delivered with a desktop charging base and USB charge cable for simple dropin charging between jobs.
  • IP30 and IK07 rated housing for basic dust protection and good impact resistance in a professional workshop environment.
  • Risk group 1 UV classification to keep user exposure in a safer range when used with appropriate UV eye and skin protection.
  • Curing area of roughly 10 cm diameter at about 6 cm distance, giving a controlled, concentrated cure zone for small to medium patches.
  • Suitable for confined or awkward spaces such as sills, corners and under arches thanks to its compact size and focused beam.
  • Well suited to professional bodyshops using UV systems to reduce process times between filling, priming, sanding and refinishing.

FAQs

Is the Scangrip UV-LIGHT suitable for professional bodyshop paint repairs?
Yes. The Scangrip 03.5801 UV-LIGHT is designed for fast curing of small to medium paint repair areas using UV primers, fillers and coatings. It is a rechargeable handheld UV LED lamp with a 390–400 nm peak wavelength and a curing area of around 10 cm, so it is well suited to smart repairs, panel edges and local refinishes in professional bodyshops and repair centres.
What materials and products can I cure with the Scangrip UV-LIGHT?
The lamp is intended for curing UV-based paints, primers, fillers, putties and clear coatings on automotive panels. Because it produces virtually no heat on the panel, it is particularly useful on plastic parts and other heat-sensitive substrates where conventional IR drying can distort or overheat the material. Always match the lamp to UV-curable products specified by your paint system and follow the paint manufacturer’s recommended exposure time and distance.
How long does the battery last and how is the lamp charged?
The UV-LIGHT uses a 3.7 V, 2600 mAh Li-ion battery, giving roughly 1.5 hours of operation, depending on duty cycle. It is supplied with a charging base and charges in about 4 hours from flat. An intelligent battery indicator on the front shows remaining charge, so you can plan curing cycles and avoid running out of power mid-job. For busy workshops, BWS typically recommends building a routine of docking the lamp whenever it is not in use.
How should I set up and use the Scangrip UV-LIGHT safely in the workshop?
In use, position the lamp so the curing area covers the repair (typically around 6 cm distance for a 10 cm cure spot) and secure it with the built-in magnet, hook or belt clip so it cannot fall or be knocked. Angle the 180° tiltable head for even coverage and follow your UV product’s specified exposure time; many systems will fully cure within about 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on film build. Always wear appropriate UV eye and skin protection, avoid looking directly at the LED, and keep reflective surfaces to a minimum around the cure area. BWS can advise on correct distances, PPE and lamp care to maintain consistent curing performance.

What Our Engineers Say!

Jason says

I’m Jason Bowes, Sales Director at BWS Ltd, and this is a rechargeable UV curing lamp for small to medium bodyshop repairs. I’d use it for spot repairs, local primer work, and curing UV fillers or coatings where you need controlled curing without putting heat into the panel.

In a workshop, the main benefit is practical access. The hook, magnet and tilting head let you position the lamp close to the repair area, which matters when you are working around wings, door edges or plastic components. The 390–400 nm UV output is suited to UV products used in paint repair, but it still needs to be matched to the material and the curing time recommended by the coating manufacturer.

The common issue I see is poor placement. If the lamp is too far away, or angled badly, the cure can be uneven and you end up chasing soft edges or patchy finish. Battery condition also matters if you are using it through the day.

Used properly, it is a reliable tool for fast, repeatable repairs and sensible workshop turnaround.
