FAQs

Is the Scangrip Multi Match 8 suitable for professional bodyshop and detailing work?
Yes, it is designed specifically for polishing, painting, cleaning and colour matching on large panels and complete sides of vehicles. The high CRI+ LED gives very accurate colour rendition, so you can see blend lines, coverage and defects properly, and the 8000 lumen output is more than enough for full side inspections in a professional bodyshop or detailing bay.
What are the main lighting features and how do they help in daily workshop use?
The lamp provides up to 8000 lumens with a 5-step dimmer so you can drop the output for close-up work and raise it for full panel checks. The ALL DAYLIGHT function gives 5 selectable colour temperatures across roughly 2500–6500K, allowing you to mimic different daylight conditions and spot issues that only show in certain light. The high CRI+ LED ensures faithful colour matching on metallics and tricky shades, reducing reworks.
How is the Multi Match 8 powered and what does the SPS/Scangrip Power Solution mean in practice?
It uses the Scangrip Power Solution system, so you run it on a removable rechargeable battery pack or via a direct power supply. In a workshop this means you can keep a spare battery on charge and swap over instantly, or plug in the power supply for fixed bay use. There is an integrated battery backup function that keeps the light running at reduced output if the main battery is exhausted, so you are not suddenly left in the dark mid job.
What connectivity and control options does it have and are they useful in a workshop environment?
The lamp has Bluetooth control via a phone app, allowing you to adjust light output and colour temperature remotely. In real use this is handy when the light is on a stand, under a ramp or positioned away from you – you can fine-tune brightness and Kelvin without moving from the job. It also helps keep settings consistent between bays or operators, which is useful for paint matching and quality control. BWS can advise on setup and stands or mounts to suit your workshop layout.

What Our Engineers Say!

Jason

Jason says

This is a high-output, colour-correct LED work light designed for paintwork inspection, polishing and detailing in professional bodyshops. I use it where we’re dealing with larger panels or full sides of a vehicle and need to see defects, texture and true colour across a wide area, not just a spot.

In practice, it sits on a stand or tripod in the bay, giving consistent illumination while technicians move around the vehicle. The adjustable colour temperature and output are important – warmer light can help to pull out holograms and swirl marks on dark colours, while cooler settings are better for metallics and light finishes. High CRI output is critical if you’re checking blends against adjacent panels.

A common issue I see is units being run too bright and too close, which washes out defects and causes eye fatigue. Set distance and intensity properly and let the light work for you.

Used correctly, this type of light gives reliable, repeatable inspection conditions and supports efficient, consistent paintwork quality.
