Engineer Advice

Dan Jennings

Dan Jennings says

This is a medium‑duty 250A Parweld MIG torch in a 3m length, suited to general fabrication and bodyshop repair work where you’re running machines up to around the 230A CO₂ / 200A mixed‑gas mark. In practice, it’s the sort of torch you’d pair with typical 200–250A MIG sets for steel panel work, brackets, chassis repairs and light fabrication, rather than heavy spray transfer on thick plate.

In the workshop it’s used for continuous welding on mild steel and stainless with wire sizes in the 0.8–1.2 mm range, and the 3m lead is a good balance between reach around a vehicle and stable wire feeding without excessive drag. Being an air‑cooled MB25 / Euro‑fit style torch, it’s broadly compatible with most professional MIG welders in that current class, and takes standard MB25 consumables, which keeps downtime and costs sensible.

From experience, most issues come from poor liners, worn tips and incorrect stick‑out, rather than the torch body itself. Set it up correctly, keep consumables genuine and maintained, and this level of torch is reliable and efficient for day‑to‑day bodyshop work.
