This is a standard MIG contact tip for 0.8 mm wire with an M6 thread, used on common MB15/MB25 style torches in day-to-day bodyshop welding. In practice it’s the part that guides the wire and carries welding current into the arc, so its condition has a direct impact on feed stability and weld quality.

In a workshop you’ll typically run these with 0.8 mm solid steel or silicon bronze wire for panel work, plug welds and light fabrication. The key is matching tip size to wire diameter and torch series – M6 tips are not interchangeable with M8, and mixing sizes is a common cause of poor feeding. Correct installation into the gas diffuser and keeping the tip seated square to the wire path also matter.

From experience, most erratic arcs, burn-back and bird-nesting on 0.8 mm wire come back to a worn or oversized tip that should have been changed sooner. Treated as a consumable and replaced at the first signs of wear, this type of tip gives reliable current transfer and consistent wire feed, which is what you want for clean, repeatable bodyshop repairs.
