Paul Jones says
This is a belt driven, 4 hp, 200 litre, single phase workshop compressor, intended for general air supply in a bodyshop or fabrication bay. In practice it sits as a static unit feeding spray guns, blow guns, air tools and tyre inflation, and with the right plumbing can support panel repair equipment and light blasting.
With around 13 cfm free air delivery on 230 V, it’s suitable for one main user or a couple of lighter users, not a full production line. Correct electrical supply is critical – these 4 hp single‑phase machines typically need a dedicated 30 A circuit and good cabling, or you’ll see nuisance tripping and hard starting under load.
A common issue I see is trying to run high‑demand tools (large DA sanders, continuous blasting, multiple spray guns) off a single 200 L unit; the compressor spends its life at maximum duty cycle, runs hot and wears out faster. Pipework size and water separation are also often overlooked.
Set up with proper electrics, sensible air demand and decent filtration, these compressors are a reliable workhorse and efficient for day‑to‑day bodyshop and workshop use.
