Expert Advice

Paul Jones

Paul Jones says

The Parweld XTT 315Di is a three-phase AC/DC pulsed TIG inverter intended for demanding fabrication and bodyshop work. I would use it where the job varies between aluminium and steel, stainless or other ferrous materials, rather than keeping separate machines for each process.

In AC mode, the selectable waveforms and frequency control help manage oxide cleaning, arc stability and heat input on aluminium. DC pulse is useful on thinner steel and stainless, particularly where controlling distortion and maintaining a consistent bead matters. It also provides MMA capability for practical repair work away from the TIG bench.

The main point to check before purchase is the electrical supply. This is a 400V three-phase machine, not a single-phase unit, and the installation must be suitable for the intended duty. Correct torch, gas flow, earth connection and tungsten preparation are equally important; poor setup is often mistaken for an inverter fault.

In my experience, operators gain more from setting pulse and AC balance to suit the material than simply turning the current up. Properly installed and maintained, it is a dependable workshop power source for varied TIG work.
