Technical Features

  • Advanced inverter spot welding technology providing precise control of current and clamping force for modern automotive steels including HLE/THLE, UHLE and Boron
  • Automatic welding mode with intelligent gun that detects material thickness and stackup and sets welding parameters (current, time, force) without manual calculation
  • Maximum welding current of 14,500 A to meet OEM requirements for structural and highstrength steel panel replacement
  • High clamping force up to 550 daN at 8.1 bar to ensure proper nugget formation on ultrahighstrength steels and multilayer joints
  • 5 m liquidcooled cable/harness giving extended reach around larger vehicles and commercial bodywork without constantly moving the power unit
  • Clamp with integrated transformer in the gun, reducing power loss in the cables and improving repeatability of weld quality
  • 360° rotating clamp head allowing access to difficult areas such as inner wings, door apertures, sills and roof rails
  • Manual overopening mechanism (GYS patent) providing additional jaw opening clearance to get around flanges, seams and awkward profiles
  • Liquid cooling circuit (around 30 litres) for gun, cables and transformer to maintain stable weld performance on highdutycycle bodyshop work
  • Balancing arm to support the gun weight, reducing operator fatigue and improving consistency over long repair sessions
  • 5" colour display with clear welding program selection and onscreen guidance suitable for workshop environments
  • Preset and programmable welding modes to store job parameters for different vehicle manufacturers, panels and stackups
  • Spot counter function to monitor cap usage and schedule tip dressing or replacement in line with workshop quality procedures
  • USB port for data export, software updates and weld traceability, supporting bodyshop audit and OEM approval requirements
  • Automatic water flow and temperature monitoring to protect the transformer and cables from overheating during intensive use
  • User interface designed for quick selection of arm types and electrode caps, helping ensure correct configuration before welding
  • Support for multiple clamp arms and electrode configurations so one machine can cover general body repairs, roof/quarter panels and structural work
  • Fast welding cycle capable of up to approximately 10 welds per minute, improving throughput on panel replacement jobs
  • Robust wheeled cabinet with integrated storage for arms and accessories, keeping the workstation organised in a busy bodyshop
  • Threephase 400 V supply for stable power delivery and compatibility with typical professional UK and European workshop installations

FAQs

What power and air supply does the GYSPOT PTI EXPERT (5M) - 400V require in a workshop?
The machine runs on a 3 x 400 V 50/60 Hz three‑phase supply and should be on a suitably rated, dedicated circuit with correct protection and isolation, as it can deliver up to 14,500 A welding current. You will also need a clean, dry compressed air supply capable of maintaining 8 bar at the machine to achieve the full 550 daN clamping force. In practice, most professional bodyshops will run it from their main three‑phase and ring main airline; our engineers can advise on breaker size, cable runs and air line sizing before installation.
Is the 5 metre harness suitable for use on a dedicated bodyshop bay or do I need extra reach?
The 5 m harness is designed to comfortably cover a standard booth or dedicated structural repair bay when the power unit is positioned sensibly at the side or rear of the vehicle. It gives enough reach to work around most cars and light commercials without dragging the power unit. If you work on long wheelbase vans or have fixed benches, it is worth planning the bay layout so the column and balancer can reach the front and rear corners; our team can help you with bay layout and, if needed, discuss alternative arm configurations or positioning to avoid over‑stretching the harness.
Is the GYSPOT PTI EXPERT suitable for OEM and insurance‑approved structural repairs on high‑strength steels?
Yes, it has been developed specifically for modern bodyshop structural work. With 14,500 A welding current and up to 550 daN clamping force at 8.1 bar, it is capable of welding the full range of automotive steels including HLE/THLE, UHLE and Boron steels used in OEM repair methods. The inverter technology and automatic parameter detection ensure correct nugget formation when set up properly. For insurance or OEM approvals you still need to follow the vehicle manufacturer’s weld locations, arm types and tip geometry, and keep documented weld traces via the inbuilt USB data export where required.
What maintenance and consumables should we plan for with the GYSPOT PTI EXPERT in daily bodyshop use?
Regular checks are straightforward but important. You will need to monitor and replace the spot caps as they wear, using genuine GYS caps and electrodes to maintain clamping force and weld quality. The 30 litre liquid cooling system requires periodic level checks and coolant changes to protect the transformer, cables and clamp. Air filters and the gun’s mechanical linkages should be inspected and cleaned according to usage. The built‑in spot counter helps you track cap life. BWS can supply genuine GYS consumables, coolant and spare parts, and we offer planned maintenance and on‑site calibration checks to keep the welder within spec for structural work.
