This is an aluminium dent puller station for welding studs to remove dents from aluminium body panels. In the workshop I use it to attach M4, M5 and M6 studs to doors, bonnets and other panels so the damage can be pulled without stripping the component. The unit uses capacitor discharge welding with a 66 mF capacitor and a fast 3 millisecond weld; microprocessor control gives a choice of voltage mode (50–200 V) or power mode (0–10). The automatic gun has integrated earth terminals and fires when the tip seats; spring-loaded brass studs and an adjustable spring force help maintain contact, and a chuck for Ø 4 mm studs plus an aluminium accessory box are supplied. A common issue is poor contact from contamination or incorrect spring setting, which produces weak joins. In my experience, correct setup and surface preparation are essential to consistent welds and predictable pulling results.
