FAQs

Is the GYS Autopulse 220-M3 suitable for welding aluminium panels in automotive bodywork repair?
Yes, the GYS Autopulse 220-M3 is fully capable of welding aluminium when used with appropriate aluminium wire and a suitable torch setup, typically a spool gun or push-pull arrangement. The pulsed MIG process is particularly advantageous for aluminium, as it reduces heat input and helps prevent burn-through on thinner panels. This makes it an excellent choice for automotive bodywork where controlled heat management is essential.
What duty cycle can I expect when using the Autopulse 220-M3 at its maximum output of 220A?
At its maximum rated output of 220A, the Autopulse 220-M3 operates at a duty cycle of approximately 25%, meaning it can weld continuously for 2.5 minutes in every 10-minute cycle before requiring a cooling period. At the more commonly used output of 150A, the duty cycle increases to around 60%, providing much longer practical welding runs. For most automotive and light fabrication tasks, these figures are more than adequate for productive daily use.
Does the GYS Autopulse 220-M3 require a three-phase power supply, or will it run on a standard single-phase outlet?
The GYS Autopulse 220-M3 operates on a standard single-phase 230V supply, making it straightforward to use in most garage, bodyshop, or workshop environments without the need for specialist electrical installation. It does draw a maximum input current of 32A, so you should ensure your supply circuit and socket are rated accordingly. This single-phase operation is one of the features that makes it particularly accessible and convenient for professional users and independent repairers alike.
What wire spool sizes are compatible with the GYS Autopulse 220-M3, and what is the maximum spool weight it can accommodate?
The GYS Autopulse 220-M3 accepts wire spools up to 200mm in diameter and can accommodate a maximum spool weight of 15kg, making it compatible with the large, economical spools commonly used in professional workshop environments. This generous capacity reduces the frequency of spool changes during extended welding sessions, improving workflow efficiency. Standard smaller spools are also compatible, giving users flexibility when switching between wire types or diameters.
