Engineer Advice
Paul Jones says
From a setup point of view, treat it as a primary welding power source, not a “portable” set. Make sure it’s positioned with proper ventilation, stable footing and sensible cable runs. You’ve got CC/CV output, so it will handle stick, TIG and a separate MIG wire feeder correctly if you match process and polarity.
Common issues I see are poor earthing, undersized welding leads and ignoring duty cycle, which quickly shows up as hot connectors and inconsistent arc performance. Another regular one is running multiple tools off the auxiliary sockets without thinking about load balance.
Used correctly, this type of Kubota driven welder-generator is very reliable and efficient, giving you solid arc characteristics and dependable power on site, provided it’s serviced properly and set up with the right leads and accessories.
