Engineer Advice
Paul Jones says
Correct arm positioning is critical. You want the hood as close as practical to the source without obstructing access, and the arm joints need to be set up so the hood stays where the operator puts it rather than drifting. Filtration on these units is designed for re-circulating clean air back into the workshop, so maintaining filter condition and monitoring airflow matters for HSE compliance and operator safety.
A common issue I see is installers mounting the unit too high or off to one side, which forces poor hood positioning and reduces capture efficiency. When mounted at a sensible height, with the Armotech arm set up properly and filters serviced on schedule, it’s a reliable way to remove fume at source without losing heat from the workshop.
