Technical Features

  • Latest generation IGBT inverter power source offering stable arc characteristics and good efficiency for daily professional use
  • Multiprocess capability with MIG/MAG modes to cover typical steel and stainless fabrication and body repair work
  • Digital volt and ampere displays give clear, repeatable settings and make it easier to record procedures and replicate jobs
  • Seamless electronic adjustment of welding parameters allows fine tuning of the arc for different materials, wire diameters and positions
  • Hightorque 4roll wire feed system provides consistent wire delivery, especially useful with softer wires and longer torch leads
  • Supports 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 mm solid welding wires so one machine can handle light bodywork through to heavier fabrication
  • Accepts both 5 kg and 15 kg wire reels, giving the option of compact reels for special wires and larger spools for staple production wires
  • Trolleymounted chassis for easier movement around the workshop and better bottle and cable management
  • Generatorfriendly design allowing use on suitably rated, stable generators where fixed mains supply is not available
  • Burnback adjustment to control how much wire remains after trigger release, preventing wire sticking to the tip and improving restart
  • Wire inching function to feed wire through a new torch or liner without energising the welding circuit, speeding up set changes and reducing waste
  • 2T/4T trigger modes for either standard pressandhold operation or latch mode on longer welds to reduce operator fatigue
  • Gas purge function to set and check gas flow without wasting wire, and to clear air from the torch and hose before welding
  • Variable inductance control to soften or stiffen the arc, helping manage spatter, bead appearance and heat input on thin panels
  • Wide current range up to 400 A, giving enough output for heavy gauge work while still able to be turned down for thinner material
  • High duty cycle at full output (400 A at 60%) suited to production environments where extended welding runs are common
  • IP21/F protection and conformity to EN IEC 60974 standards for welding equipment safety and electromagnetic compatibility
  • Supplied ready to weld with 423C power source, 4 m M4 MIG torch, earth return lead with clamp and gas hose for straightforward installation and commissioning

FAQs

Is the Cros Arc MIG 423C suitable for continuous production welding in a professional workshop?
Yes. The MIG 423C is a three-phase 400V inverter with a 50–400A output range and a 400A @ 60% duty cycle at 40°C, so it is built for heavy, repeated welding rather than occasional use. The 4-roll wire feed, ability to run 0.6–1.2mm wire, and acceptance of both 5kg and 15kg spools make it suitable for anything from lighter fabrication up to thicker chassis and structural work. It is trolley mounted for easy movement around the workshop and is designed to be generator friendly for sites where fixed mains supply is not always available.
What input power supply does the MIG 423C require and can I run it on single phase?
The MIG 423C is a 3-phase, 400V machine (3P-400V ±15%, 50/60Hz) with a rated input current of 24A. It is not designed to run on single-phase 230V, and you should not attempt to use phase converters or extension leads that are undersized. For correct operation and to protect the inverter, it should be installed on a proper 3-phase 400V supply with appropriate fusing and wiring sized by a qualified electrician. If you only have single-phase available, speak to BWS and we can advise an alternative model better suited to your supply.
What processes and materials can the Cros Arc MIG 423C handle?
The MIG 423C is a multi-process MIG/MAG power source, so it covers standard solid wire MIG with gas, MAG on mild steel, and flux-cored wires where suitable. With 0.6 and 0.8mm wires it is comfortable on thin automotive and bodywork steels; with 1.0 and 1.2mm wire it will tackle thicker sections and general fabrication. Process functions include 2T/4T trigger latching, variable inductance for tuning arc characteristics, burn-back control, wire inching and a gas purge function. For bodyshop work you would typically run mixed Ar/CO₂ on mild steel; for stainless and other materials, BWS can advise suitable wire and gas combinations.
What is included with the MIG 423C package and what consumables does it use?
Standard supply includes the 423C inverter power source, an M4 4-metre MIG torch, earth return lead and clamp, and gas hose. The machine uses a Euro-style torch connection, so it is compatible with common Binzel-pattern torches and consumables, making it easy to source tips, shrouds, liners and necks. The 4-roll drive system will feed 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2mm wire, and the spool hub accepts 5kg and 15kg reels. BWS can supply genuine torches, rollers, liners and spare parts, and our engineers can advise on the best consumable setup for your typical material thickness and process.
