Cold Glue Dent Repair Kit
Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) is a technique used to remove minor dents from the body of a vehicle without affecting the original paint finish. This method is appreciated for its cost-effectiveness, speed, and the ability to maintain the vehicle's resale value. Among the various PDR techniques, the use of cold glue has emerged as a popular and effective approach.
What is Cold Glue?
Cold glue, often referred to as PDR cold glue, is a specialized adhesive designed for PDR applications. It is used to attach tools like tabs or suction cups to the vehicle's surface to pull out dents. Here are the key characteristics of cold glue:
Non-Newtonian Behavior: When a quick force is applied, cold glue becomes significantly harder, allowing for the maximum force transfer to the dent.
Temperature Sensitivity: The stickiness of cold glue varies with temperature. It's advised to warm the glue in your hands in cooler conditions to make it tacky enough for use
Application: Cold glue is applied to PDR tabs or directly to the dent's surface, facilitating the pulling process without the need for heat application.
Standard Cold Glue Putty
Suitable for standard weather conditions up to 86°F/30°C. and exhibits significant non-Newtonian behaviour, allowing for effective force transfer during dent pulling with pulling high spots.
Application Process
1. Surface Preparation: Before applying cold glue, the surface should be thoroughly cleaned. Glexo SPS wipes are recommended for deep cleaning to ensure optimal adhesion
2. Glue Application:
Apply the cold glue to the PDR tool or directly to the dent's surface.
If necessary, warm the glue in your hands to make it tacky.
Attach the PDR tool to the glue, ensuring it's firmly in place.
3. Dent Pulling:
Use a pulling tool to apply force slowly, allowing the glue to adjust to the pulling force without sudden movements.
The non-Newtonian behavior of the glue helps in transferring the maximum force to the dent.
4. Glue Removal
Once the dent is removed, the glue should be detached smoothly from the surface to avoid paint damage.
Any residue can be removed using appropriate methods, like washing with slightly alkaline detergents.
Benefits of Cold Glue PDR
No Heat Requirement: Eliminates the need for heating tools, reducing the risk of paint damage.
Versatility: Effective in various weather conditions, especially with temperature-specific formulations.
Efficiency: Allows for faster repairs, particularly useful in scenarios like hail damage
