Parweld XP8 350 Mig Torch
Engineer Advice
Paul Jones says
This is a heavy duty air‑cooled MIG torch suited to higher current fabrication and body repair work, typically around the 300–350 A bracket. In a real bodyshop it will be paired with a compact or three‑phase MIG set for thicker chassis sections, commercial vehicle repairs and jig work where long weld runs are common and downtime is costly.
The main technical point is duty cycle: the XP8 air‑cooled range is built to run at around 80% duty, so it tolerates sustained welding better than general‑purpose torches, provided you match it with appropriate mixed gas and keep within its wire size range. Correct setup of liners, contact tips and drive rolls is critical; any mis‑match shows up quickly as feeding issues on longer torch lengths.
A common workshop problem is neglecting the torch side of the process: worn consumables, damaged Hyperflex cable or poor connections cause porosity and unstable arcs that get blamed on the power source. When it is looked after properly, this torch gives reliable, consistent performance and is well suited to professional use where efficiency and repeatable weld quality matter.
