The Hypertherm Powermax125 plasma torch is a heavy-duty air plasma torch used for cutting and gouging conductive metals like mild steel, stainless and aluminium in a workshop environment. In real use it tends to sit either on a mechanised table or as a handheld torch for chassis work, fabrication, bracketry and thicker structural sections where oxy-fuel is slower or less precise.
On these systems, correct torch selection and setup matter more than the headline amperage. Matching the torch style and lead length to the job, keeping consumables in good condition, and setting gas pressure appropriately are what control cut quality and consumable life.
