REVIEW
The Fronius TransSteel Range has a new addition: Fronius TransSteel 3500 C Pulse, which brings pulsed aluminium welding, which is generally reserved for the TPSI range to TransSteel.
The Fronius TPSI range has always been the Fronius range's pinnacle offering all the specialist aluminium welding features available. The only problem was that they are expensive specialist machines and, therefore, somebody who wanted some but not all the features needed to justify the investment.
The TransSteel range has always been the workhorse of Fronius's models designed for high-grade welding day in day out. The 3000 TransSteel perfect for production steelwork, for example.
TransSteel Pulsed options are particularly suited for Aluminium and spatter free welding of steels and stainless steels. Designed for construction work and general fabrication theTranSteel 3000/4000/5000 C Pulse offer:
The NEW Software allows for nearly 170 optimised synergic programmes making Childs play of welding steel aluminium and stainless steel.
The units are an improved version of the old TPS 2700 range offering quality pulsed welding functions at a great production price.
PULSE FUNCTIONThe Pulse function of the TransSteel 4000 und TransSteel 5000 Pulse permits faster welding speeds on thicker materials. The pulsed arc also reduces the amount of rework as less welding spatter is generated.
SYNCHROPULSE FOR ALUMINUM ALLOYSThe "SynchroPulse" option is recommended to weld aluminium alloys when a rippled seam appearance is required. This effect is achieved by modifying the welding power between two operating points.
A great feature of these welders is the Dynamic Parameter Adjustments, enabling the welder to optimise their welding.
ARC LENGTH CORRECTION
TO CHANGE THE ARC CHARACTERISTIC
– shorter arc, reduced welding voltage
o neutral arc
+ longer arc, increased welding voltage
ARC-FORCE DYNAMIC
FOR INFLUENCING THE SHORT-CIRCUITING DYNAMIC AT THE INSTANT OF DROPLET TRANSFER
– hard, stable arc
o neutral arc
+ soft, low-spatter arc
PULSE CORRECTION
FOR CORRECTING THE PULSE ENERGY OF PULSED ARC
– Slower droplet detachment force
o neutral droplet detachment force
+ higher droplet detachment force
TIG WELDING
The TransSteel 3000, 4000 and 5000 incorporate TIG functions as standard. The highly accurate touchdown ignition is on par with high-frequency ignition and contributes towards user-friendliness.
PULSEWELDING
Pulse welding is primarily used for out-of-position welding or when welding, especially thin materials. The pulse setting range is from 1 Hz to 990 Hz.
TACKING FUNCTION
The weld pool is made to oscillate using pulse currents. This makes it easier to tack components together and reduces the tacking time. The pulsed arc facilitates the process with very thin materials since the temperatures are slightly lower in the phases with less current.
TOUCH DOWN IGNITION
The highly accurate touchdown ignition is on par with high-frequency ignition and contributes towards user-friendliness.
MMA WELDING
Modes include; Hot Start, Anti stick and Arc Force Dynamic, meaning its a very high specification MMA welder!
MY THOUGHTS
Having welded with the new machines in both steel and Aluminium modes, I have found them to be as expected-EXCELLENT!
The Synchro Pulse mode for Aluminium is just what we come to expect from Fronius with a very soft re-ignition between pulses; this enables easier welding of thin sheets of Aluminium to be produced.
The Fronius 270 TPSI and the 320 TPSI will always be the top of range machines with the best features and welding characteristics offered. But if you have a budget and need to perform weld after weld to a high standard, then look no further than the NEW TransSteel Pulsed Range!
