I’m Jason Bowes, Sales Director at BWS Ltd, and the GYSMeter Measuring System is a body measuring tool for checking vehicle underbody dimensions, symmetry and cross measurements in a workshop. I see it used on straightening jobs and structural checks where you need to compare the vehicle against the manufacturer’s dimensions before and after repair.
The main point is accurate setup. The height rod, tip selection and magnetic attachment all need to match the measurement point and the data sheet, otherwise the readings are only as good as the setup. On the bench it looks simple, but on a damaged shell access can be awkward, so the hold function and a disciplined measurement routine save time and avoid misreads.
The common issue I come across is people rushing the cross checks or using the wrong datum point. When it is used properly, it gives a reliable way to confirm alignment and keep structural repairs on the right side of manufacturer tolerances.
