Technical Features

  • Specialised UV LED curing lamp designed for fast curing of UV primers and UV body fillers on larger repair areas in professional bodyshops.
  • Slim, compact and ergonomically designed housing that gives a secure grip in the hand and makes it easy to manoeuvre along panels, bumpers and larger sections.
  • Rechargeable, batteryoperated floodlight with long operating time, allowing mobile work away from mains power and practical use around the vehicle without trailing cables.
  • Builtin 1–5 minute timer function so you can set consistent curing cycles for primers and fillers, improving repeatability and avoiding over‑exposure.
  • Integrated battery level indicator on the rear of the lamp, giving a clear visual check of remaining runtime during jobs.
  • Flexible bracket/handle with strong magnets that lets you stand, tilt or mount the lamp on the booth wall, lift, or vehicle structure to achieve the correct UV cure angle.
  • Produces UV output in the 390–400 nm range, matched to modern UV primers and body fillers used in automotive repair.
  • “Cold” UV curing with effectively no heat generated on the panel or paint, making it suitable for plastic parts and other heat‑sensitive materials without risk of distortion.
  • Die‑cast aluminium body engineered to withstand everyday workshop use, including knocks, shocks and vibration around jigs, benches and vehicle lifts.
  • Solvent‑resistant glass lens that tolerates exposure to thinners, cleaners and paint overspray, maintaining clarity and performance over time.
  • Handy, portable form factor that is easy to carry around the workshop and between bays, supporting mobile repair and SMART repair operations.
  • Magnetic mounting and adjustable head angle enable hands‑free operation, useful when curing vertical panels, inner repairs or areas that are awkward to reach.
  • Consistent and controlled irradiance over a defined curing area, giving uniform curing across the repair zone and reducing risk of soft spots in UV filler or primer.
  • Designed as a cost‑reducing curing solution by speeding up process times on priming and filling stages, helping bodyshops push more jobs through the booth each day.
  • Compatible with genuine Scangrip accessories such as UV safety glasses and brackets, making it easy to integrate into a professional UV repair workflow supported by BWS engineers.

FAQs

What is the Scangrip Nova-UV S designed for in a professional bodyshop or workshop?
It is a rechargeable LED UV curing floodlight designed for fast curing of UV primers and UV body fillers over larger repair areas. The slim, handheld format and long run time make it well suited to panel work, bumpers and other bodyshop repairs where you need consistent UV output across a wider area rather than a spot beam.
How long will the Nova-UV S run on a full charge and how is it recharged?
The lamp uses an internal 3.7V Li-ion battery (around 5400mAh) and typically gives up to 1.5 hours of operation at full output. It is recharged via the supplied 1 m USB to DC lead and mains charger, with a charge time of roughly 3.5 hours. A built-in battery indicator helps you judge remaining runtime during jobs.
Is the Nova-UV S robust enough for daily workshop use?
Yes, the housing is die-cast aluminium with solvent-resistant glass and is tested to IK07 impact resistance and around 1 m drop resistance. It has an IP30 rating, so it copes well with typical workshop dust and splashes, but it is not a wash-down lamp. It is designed to handle everyday knocks, vibrations and movement around a busy bodyshop.
How should I position the Nova-UV S for effective curing and what materials can I use it on?
The flexible bracket with strong magnets lets you set the lamp at different angles on benches, racks or body panels, giving a consistent cure angle and distance. The LED output is in the UV range around 395–400 nm, matched to most automotive UV primers and fillers. Because it uses cold UV curing, it does not heat the substrate, so it is safe to use on plastic parts and other heat-sensitive panels when used according to the coating manufacturer’s instructions.

What Our Engineers Say!

Paul Jones

Paul Jones says

This is a dedicated UV curing lamp for primers, fillers and spot repairs, especially on bumpers and larger panels. I use this type of light where you want consistent, repeatable cures without baking the panel, for example UV primers on plastic, composite and other heat-sensitive parts.

In a typical bodyshop it’s used after prep and application of UV products: position the lamp 10–20 cm off the surface, set the timer, and work methodically across the repair so you keep the right distance and overlap. The built-in timer is useful because you are not guessing exposure times, and the relatively tight wavelength band suits most automotive UV primers.

Two key points from experience: always follow the paint manufacturer’s curing distance and time, and keep the lens clean – dust or overspray will reduce effective irradiance. A common issue is techs holding it too far away and assuming it has cured; that leads to sanding problems later.

Used correctly, it gives reliable, fast curing and can speed up small to medium repairs without tying up the booth.
