UV Paint Curing Lights

Scangrip UV paint curing lamps are designed for fast, controlled curing of small to medium repairs using UV primers, putties and clear coats. In a busy bodyshop they cut process time between prep and flatting, as long as the coating is genuinely UV-curable and film build is within spec. Choose output and beam size to suit your repair size and distance to panel, and always match the lamp’s wavelength and intensity to the paint manufacturer’s data sheet. BWS can advise on setup and safe use.

Jason says

These are specialised UV curing lamps designed for fast curing of UV-refinishing products in a bodyshop environment. In practice, they’re used for localised curing of UV primers, fillers and spot repairs on panels, bumpers and small components, where you want to reduce booth time and keep work moving.

In day-to-day use, the key is controlling distance, angle and exposure time so you get full cure without overheating plastics or softening adjacent paint. Different UV products cure at different rates and film builds, so matching the lamp output and working distance to the paint manufacturer’s data is important. Good cable management or battery planning also matters when you’re moving around a vehicle.

A common issue we see is operators holding the lamp too far away, assuming “near enough” is fine, then wondering why sanding clogs or adhesion is poor. The opposite problem is sitting too close on plastic, risking distortion.

Set up correctly and used with the right UV materials, these lamps are a reliable way to speed up repairs and free the spray booth for bigger jobs.
