GYS Plasma Cutters UK
Engineer Advice
Paul Jones says
GYS plasma cutters are used in bodyshops and fabrication workshops for clean, controlled cutting of steel and other conductive metals. In practice, they are handy for panel repair, removing damaged sections, trim work and general fabrication where a torch gives better access than abrasive cutting. I always look at the air supply first, as poor air quality or unstable pressure will affect cut quality and electrode life. The other point is choosing the right current setting and keeping the torch movement steady, especially on thinner material where too much heat will distort the job.
A common issue is people trying to cut too fast or working with worn consumables, which leaves a rough edge and more clean-up later. Set up properly, keep the torch and air system in order, and the cutter will do a neat, consistent job. For workshop use, reliability comes from correct setup and routine maintenance rather than pushing the machine beyond what the material will take.
